Episode 49 - Money, Money, Money

image-25.png

Money has been with us for a looooong time. Bartering - the exchange of goods and services for mutual advantage - started tens of thousands of years ago. The first coins came onto the scene in 1000 BC and paper money showed up for the first time in 806 AD. We had a gold standard for a little over 100 years and dumped that in 1930. Now our money is primarily electronic, something we rarely even touch! Money has taken a lot of forms, but it has been, and still is an integral part of our social structure and everyday lives.

Some of our inherited ideas about money:

Money is the root of all evil.

There is never enough.

My family has never had money.

Money isn't important.Money is for spending.

I need to save for a rainy day.

People always want my money!

Money is a necessary evil.

It's selfish to want a lot of money.

The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Rich people should give their money away.

There is a fixed amount of money in the world.

I need to accumulate more money before I have enough to give.

Some scripture on money:

“Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income.“ Ecclesiastes 5:10

“You cannot serve both God and money.” Matthew 6:24

“Then some soldiers asked him, ‘And what should we do?’ He (John the Baptist) replied, ‘Don’t extort money and don’t accuse people falsely—be content with your pay.’” Luke 3:14

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” 1 Timothy 6:10

“Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.” Proverbs 3:11

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’” Hebrews 13:5

The Spiritual Nature of Money:

Money is neutral – it can serve or corrupt

A manifestation of Divine Substance

Like anything neutral ourintention/energy/focus matters

It follows Spiritual Law

- Law of Increase

- Law of Compensation

- Law of Circulation

In all things, remember the Source of your Prosperity:

Dialogue Questions

When you think of money, do thoughts of scarcity or abundance show up? What is your fundamental belief about money? What is money to you?

How has your belief about money changed from the past and why?

What spiritual principles do you apply to money, wealth and abundance today?

What is your biggest 'aha' about money?

Closing Thought

Money is spiritual Substance. It in itself is neutral. It is my responsibility to make the best out of it, using it always for Good. I bless the money I have. I bless the flow of money through me, blessing my bills before I pay them and blessing the income I receive. I keep spiritual substance in circulation, giving with intention and receiving with Gratitude, always remembering the true Source of my Abundance, God the Good.
