Episode 65 - Being Impeccable With Your Word
In this episode we launch into a new series on the 1997 bestseller, The Four Agreements, by Don Miguel Ruiz. While published two decades ago, this little book packs a great deal of timeless wisdom and presents four agreements - or ways of living - that when embraced will lead to personal freedom and power. Here we share our insights about and experiences of the first agreement: "Be impeccable with your word."
NOTES:
Toltec legend:
3000 years ago..
Everything in existence is a manifestation of the one living being we call God
Human perception is merely light perceiving light
Matter is a mirror that reflects light and creates images of that light — and the world of illusion, a Dream, is just like smoke which doesn't allow us to see what we really are
"The real us is pure love, pure light," he said.
We are dreaming all the time, and unaware
Society’s dream – the dream of the planet
Mom and Dad, the schools, and religion teach us how to dream
It is normal for us to suffer, to live in fear, and to create emotional dramas
The Four Agreements are New agreements that we are invited to accept in place of the Book of Law we inherited
The First Agreement is Be Impeccable With Your Word
Your Word
The power that you have to create
The gift that comes directly from God
"In the beginning there was the word …and the word was God.” John 1:1
“Every human is a magician, and we can either put a spell on someone with our word or we can release someone from a spell. We cast spells all the time with our opinions.” Don Miguel Ruiz
Impeccability means "without sin
Sin = going against yourself
Being impeccable with your word is not using the word against yourself
Dialogue Questions:
Take an honest look at your life. What agreements have you inherited? Name a few that seem to be life drivers. Name a few that are more insidious.
How have your carved your sense of yourself with your word? In what ways do you use your word against yourself? What has been the result?
What would 'saying only what you mean' look like?
What would 'speaking with integrity' look like?
Share a time when you became aware of how you used your word and changed direction toward impeccability.
Affirmation
Words are symbols we use to express thoughts, feelings, and intentions. Each expression carries energy with it. Today I use my words to speak Truth. I am Love. I am Spirit. I am Beauty, Perfection and Wisdom. With words of Truth, I create an authentic and powerful life. I am immune to anyone’s judgment of me. I transcend fear and live in possibility. I am impeccable with my word.
