Episode 56 - The Beatitudes: Seeing God

pure-heart.jpg

The heart is more than a physical organ. It is the center of emotions, thoughts, and intentions. Understanding, discernment, insight, conscience and morality live there. To have a pure heart is to be free from thoughts and feelings that are not our Divine Truth (like hate, fear, disease, limitation, jealousy, domination, resentment or victimization). When our hearts are pure we allow the Spirit of Love and Life to fill us, guide us, and act through and as us. We see Good/God. In this episode we explore the Beatitude, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."

What is a pure heart?

Free from thoughts and feelings that are not our Divine Truth (hate, fear, disease, limitation, jealousy, domination, resentment or victimization)

We allow the Spirit of Love and Life to fill us, guide us, and act through and as us

“We live in God’s world, but we do not in the least know it as it is. Heaven lies all about us – it is not a distant locality afar off in the skies, but all around us now – but because we are lacking in spiritual perception, we are unable to recognize it; that is to say, we are unable to experience it; and therefore, so far as we are concerned, we may be said to be shut out of Heaven. We do contact a very tiny fragment of it, and that tiny fragment we call the universe; but even that little bit, we see, for the most part, all awry.” Emmet Fox in The Sermon on the Mount

What is seeing God?

Seeing God is seeing Truth

Seeing beyond appearances and seeing only Good

Experience of Heaven

Can be a extraordinary, sacred encounter and see the face of God in another

There are two realities:

We are called to 'purify our hearts' and when we do, we leave the personal/physical reality and enter Divine reality - the Truth which is always there

Dialogue Questions

What does a pure heart mean to you? How do we purify our hearts?

What is your experience of seeing God? How is it related to a pure heart?

Share a holy encounter or awakening when you saw Good that didn't seem to be there before. What happened? How does it inform your life today?

What else does this mean to you?

Affirmation

When I focus on Divine Love, thoughts and feelings of hate, fear and disease dissolve. I cleanse my heart and allow Spirit full access. The world of illusion fades from my vision because I see with spiritual eyes. I behold God, the Good in all that is. We are all One.
