Episode 106 - From Fear to Faith
Fear is part of being human. We all experience it. But it is useful to know that it is one of the lower energetic expressions. Fear, guilt and shame are some of the most effective ways to manipulate people. And if you are awake, you are seeing these three energies being used in our current world. Whatever is causing us to experience fear, it is important to remember that its presence is a call to Faith, Strength and Courage. In this episode we share the spiritual practices we use to support us in moving from fear to Faith.
NOTES
We are living with a great deal of uncertainty
Uncertainty is like being in free fall. It causes fear to arise in us.
Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat
Two things are going on at any given moment: fear or love
Some fears we may be experiencing are:
Bodily harm
Unfair treatment
Division
Illness
Loss of life
Loss of livelihood
Loss of freedom/self determination
Deconstruction of what we know
David Hawkin's Scale of Consciousness
When we experience fear, we can employ spiritual practices to move us to Faith. One of these is Psalm 23. Written presumably by King David, it is a love poem about the nature of God. It presents as set of affirmations.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.”
“He makes me lay down in green pastures.”
“He leads me beside still waters.”
“He restores my soul.”
“He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake.”
“Even though I walk through the darkest valleys,”
“I fear no evil,”
“… for you are with me;”
“Your rod and your staff – they comfort me.”
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies,”
“You anoint my head with oil.”
“My cup overflows.”
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.”
“And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
Here's an updated translation if you are turned off by the antiquated language in this Bible verse:
God is my Source. Everything that is! And I am filled.
Knowing my oneness with the One, I am at rest.
In the still waters of my deepest self, I find peace and tranquility.
I awaken to my true divine Self.
On my journey through life, the right path is laid before me and I trust that it is perfect for my own unfoldment.
When that path takes me through darkness – the places that seem not of my choosing
I walk without fear, for I know that I am never alone.
God as my strength, protection and support, walks with me.
In tumultuous times, there is an abundance, for I am a divine and holy creation.
Every divine idea is available to me. More than I even need! I choose to grow and expand and see the blessings and fullness of Life however it shows up.
I accept the goodness and unconditional Love of God as my constant companion.
And for all my days, I shall make as my home, a conscious awareness of the single Presence and Power in the Universe - God, Divine Love, all-Good.
Dialogue and Inquiry
When you think of your greatest fear, what is the root of it?
How do you shift yourself from fear to peace?
Of what are you certain?
What, if anything, moves you about the 23rd Psalm? Is there a line that calls to you now?
What would fearless living look like?
Closing Thought
Whenever fear tries to enter into my thoughts, I affirm: I have no fear, for God is my strength of heart, mind, and body. Divine Love and Wisdom support me at all times and in all circumstances. No matter what I am going through, I am strong and confident, peaceful and secure. I release worry and concern and step through uncertainty trusting that God is in the midst, always.
